Bottles to be won at the Fair

Thank you to everyone who supported the Kent & Canterbury Hospital Fair on 19 August which proved a resounding success and made a profit of nearly £11,500. The Sheriff of Canterbury, Cllr Colin Spooner, opened the proceedings and The City of Canterbury Brass Band provided live musical entertainment. League groups and many hospital wards/departments manned stalls, and games and activities were provided for children, including Punch & Judy, face painting, bouncy castle and the chance to sit in a fire engine or on a special high powered motorbike used by the emergency blood transport service. The new attractions of a dog show with many fun categories proved popular. There was also an exhibition of the work of young artists from three local primary schools with a winning entry chosen from each school and prizes awarded, sponsored by the Arts Society of Canterbury. The Grand Draw was well supported with 25 prizes on offer and a top prize of £1,000. Thanks go to Canterbury Rotary Club for organising the BBQ and to the Canterbury Inner Wheel for providing refreshments. All fair proceeds will be spent on gifts for the hospital, benefitting patients, staff and visitors. If you would like to be involved with the planning of next year's fair, we are always looking for new volunteers. Please contact 01227 864030 for more information.
